The declivity of the ground is of approximately 3 %. However the sports ground must be horizontal. The most economical solution for building the sports ground would have been to do some clearing work and then some embankment work (déblai-remblai). But there were fears that the unavoidable settling of the ground would have quickly affected the horizontality of the sports grounds. On the other hand, considering the landscape, we felt that the sports ground could not be on a higher level: this option would have required some few thousands cubic metres of earth and would have put a strain on the budget.
We have decided to uncrate the entire playing field and its surroundings. This solution is technically reliable, but it also has other complementary advantages, which are not negligible: for instance, the protection from the western winds is improved. All spectators, including the disabled spectators, may access the upper level of the stands. For the people being in the club-house, for the spectators and other visitors, an open view is created.
Concerning the landscape, our choice was to preserve the site and its characteristics. The wooded path is left unchanged quite completely, except for minor interruptions made in order to allow an access for emergency vehicles (fire brigade, paramedics, deliveries, cleaning, etc.).
